Raised in Bangladesh, Farhat (they/them) is a transgender and queer Muslim filmmaker based in The Bronx. Their work largely grapples with issues affecting queer, non-binary and people of color identities, particularly on how loss and trauma can inspire a desire for reparation. Farhat’s films have been screened at venues such as Bryn Mawr Film Institute, LUX London, New Women Space, and the Bangalore Queer Film Festival.

 

Farhat is a B.A. and M.A. graduate from Bryn Mawr College and The New School, and works within the field of non-profit fundraising and communications. They currently serve on the NYC coordinating committees for South Asian Diaspora Artists Collective (SADAC) and South Asia Solidarity Initiative (SASI).
